Good Life Community Bike Shop Finds New Home
After a tricky search, Good Life finds (temporary) home in dynamic Kensington

CALGARY, AB – Just one month after Calgary’s popular non-profit community bike shop had to close its doors, it has moved into the much coveted Ant Hill Fabrics store in the heart of Kensington.

Community leaders, bike shop members, interested Calgarians, and building owner, the Calgary Parking Authority, all contributed to securing this location. “We need a big shop space accessible by bike, foot, train and automobile,” explains Good Life Greaser, Lena Elliott.  “This neighbourhood is a perfect place to roll in the Spring at The Good Life.”

The Old Ant Hill Fabrics Building, 148 10th Street NW, is a whopping 7000 square feet and has been used by  the Market Collective for monthly artisan markets. The Good Life is collaborating with this popular group, and Kensingtonites can expect both services in their community.

“While this isn’t a permanent location, we are grateful to be open right away,” says Co-founder, John Barrett. “We’re still looking for that long term solution. So many people stepped up to make sure the Good Life continues in Calgary and lets keep the conversations flowing.”

John Barrett will be winning the Calgary Learns Life of Learning Award as Program Director/Designer for his work on the Good Life on April 4th.

So that no cyclist will be left flat for long, the Good Life is scurrying to open its doors as soon as possible. Starting Friday April 6, 2012 Calgarians can buy and earn used bikes and parts, learn bike mechanics, and build community two wheels at a time during reduced hours. The Shop will be running at full capacity by the end of April and Calgarians are invited to its official opening party on Friday April 27.
