The Good Life’s Space Hunt

Good Life Community Bicycle Shop looks ahead: seeking permanent space

The Good Life Community Bicycle Shop is looking for a new permanent space! The short-term lease on the shop’s current home in Kensington’s Anthill Building is expiring in May 2013. The search is now on for a new home, where we can set down roots and grow, for at least the next 3 years. If a long-term, sustainable, solution cannot be found, the shop may once again find itself unable to serve the community.

As a highly reputed service and community organization, the Good Life is looking for a place where we can continue to act as critical gear in Calgary’s cycling community.

An ideal space would:

• Be located centrally in the inner-city

• Have street-level visibility

• Have easy access for cyclists and those with mobility issues.

• Be at a minimum 1500 square feet

• Have access to washrooms

• Have well-functioning utility connections

• Be suitable for bicycle repair and retail as well as community-building events

As a registered non-profit, the majority of Good Life’s revenue goes into funding programs, leaving not much to spare. An ideal rent for us would be $1000/per month or less, although this is negotiable.

Buildings who generously invite the Good Life into their space can expect a great tenant well known for its environmental and community work, increased customer traffic into the area, and the satisfaction that comes from contributing to diversity in Calgary’s civic culture.
