We at Good Life Bikes recognize that gender is a broad continuum and many mothers are transitioning sexes. Here is a link about stories of their members’ trans-Mothers Day.
Here are our suggestions on what to do today with your mom (this list is slightly adapted from Momentum Magazine’s blog post):
1. Take a city bike tour. Just check out the bike map and check out some new routes together.
2. Go on a bike picnic. Pack your panniers with bread, cheese, and mom’s favorite bottle of wine and head off to your local park, riverside, or hilltop to soak up the Sunday afternoon sun.
3. Head to the local. With more and more bike-friendly communities, bars, cafés and microbreweries springing up all over the place, it’s never been easier to take the bike lane straight to the tap.
4. Fix your bikes together. Grab a grease rag, a set of Allen keys and a good, upbeat playlist and spend the day getting your bikes ready for spring. Working on your bikes together is a great way to spend some quality time with mom while getting prepped for a summer of city cruising.
5. Farmers’ market to shop for a meal. Does your mom love cooking as a way to spend quality time with the family? Head down to your local farmer’s market to pick up fresh fruit and veggies for a Mother’s Day meal. Load your panniers with mom’s favorite ingredients and work up an appetite for a nice Sunday evening meal on the bike ride home.
