Good Life Community Bike Shop Gets Huge Mission Support!

For Immediate Release – february 25, 2014 Good Life Community Bike Shop gets Huge Mission support!

Following The Good Life Community Bike Shop’s eagerly anticipated September reopening centrally in Mission, it is now set up and better than ever.  Amidst Calgary’s thriving and growing cycling community as well as conversation around the emerging system of cycle paths, The Good Life is thrilled to announce that they have been warmly welcomed into the area commonly known as 4th Street. This area is quite popular not only for its many bars, restaurants and of course the Lilac Festival in May, but also for its proximity to downtown, the 2nd Street bikeway, and the Elbow River pathway.  The new address for the Good Life Community Bike Shop is #2, – (next to Casablanca Video).

Not only is the nonprofit flourishing during regular business hours, but there are great workshops and events already happening as well.  Of special note is G.E.M. Night – Gender Equality Magic Night.  “We’ve decided to call it GEM Night instead of Womens’ Wednesday to make sure it’s equally welcoming to anyone that identifies with women, trans*, neutrois, non-binary, and gender questioning” say hosts Aoife Baldwin-Maher and Mars Mission candidate Kayla Bonham. These open shop hours 4PM-7PM every Wednesday offer participants support with all their “D.I.Y. (Do It Yourself) and D.I.T. (Do It Together)” mechanical and community-building needs. The goals, state Kayla and Aoife, “are to provide a safe, welcoming, and empowering space for people who may feel less comfortable in what’s often assumed to be a male dominated atmosphere, while also making friends, having fun, and building community!”  They also mention that the shop is of course open and empowering for everyone throughout the week.

If you are interested in joining the adventure, building community, or just having some fun while getting your bike back on the road, please contact Aoife at [email protected] or Jonny at [email protected]
